Afif Ramadi enjoyed an extensive and thriving career as a civil engineer. Now he uses his retirement to explore his passions of studying history, operating a farm and supporting humanitarian organizations throughout the world.
Education and Career in Civil Engineering
Afif Ramadi is a graduate of both the College des Freres and Universite de Liege where he developed the foundation of his career in civil engineering. His educational experiences also introduced him to what would turn into a lifelong love of and fascination with nature. While enrolled, he participated in a school-run Ski Club. Although his skiing days may be behind him, Ramadi still loves appreciating the great outdoors. Now, he achieves this by managing his own farm.
Although he is now retired from his work as a civil engineer, Ramadi is still proud of his expertise in the industry. He brings the processes and practices of his career into his retirement, fueling his newfound passion for farming and agriculture. Developing complex and functionally engineered designs on his farm is Ramadi’s way of breathing new life into his lifelong focus of civil engineering.
Humanitarian Efforts Inspired by an Interest in History
The civil engineer turned farmer is also extremely passionate about history. He is fascinated by the cultural backbone of the history of Ramadi, Iraq. Inspired by his love of diving into the stories of this beautifully fertile and yet despicably war-torn city, he works diligently to empower innocent victims of the world’s cruelties against humanity. He is an active participant in and proud supporter of various charities with global reach, including:
- The International Committee of the Red Cross (Switzerland)
- Caritas Internationalis (Italy)
- Afif Charity Foundation (Qatar)
- No More Victims (South Carolina)
